Becoming a Senior, either at High School or College is a momentous occasion for any young person. Capturing this key moment in their lives is an opportunity to create a memory that will follow them throughout their lives.
The process of creating a Senior photo session is more involved than most other types of photo sessions. I spend time with parents/carers and the senior and we discuss everything from their likes and dislikes in terms of photography that they have already seen to who they (the Senior) are as a person, how they want to be portrayed in their photographs and of course finding the middle ground from there with parents/carer.
I have those involved in the shoot complete a brief questionnaire, this helps me build a complete picture and gives me a starting point for suggesting outfits, locations, props, and even times of day for the photo shoot.
I am a member of the Professional Photographers of America. I choose to invest time and money in improving my abilities as part of being a photographer. Why does that matter to you?

When I set up a Senior Portrait session I always interview the Senior, as well as the parents, to get a sense of who this young person is. What are their interests and more importantly how do they see themselves and how do they want to show that to the world.
This session, which was shot at a private stables worked out exactly as both Senior and parents had hoped.
Dad put an 8×10 framed print in his office from this session, which I consider to be very high praise.
